INNOVATIVE WORK

 Creativity may be defined as the ability or capacity of a person to discover and explore new ideas or areas to create a new process, including the rearrangement or reshaping of what already exists. It is the ability to evolve new approaches, forms and new materials. Teaching in innovative ways keep students engaged and excited. A change from routine classes would increase students interest and make them more creative, interactive and attentive. Thus, a n innovative idea in teaching is always necessary to keep the class active and productive.

As a part of my B.Ed curriculum I opted an innovative work on the topic Pollution and Transportation.

Objectives:

1.To make the subject business studies students friendly.

2.To learn difficult part of transportation and pollution.

3.To develop students creative thinking through demonstrating the work.

4.To promote maximum involvement of the pupil in teaching learning process.

MODEL

A hand made model was prepared to show types of pollution and modes of Transporation. Flex board was used as the base of the model. A mountain is made at the corner side using cotton and tissue paper. Some toys were used to show types of transportation. A factory was made in the middle portion in which smoke emits. Some pillars are made with flex board for holding the railway track. A pipe is used at the top of factory as chimney to emit the smoke. The whole model was a still one. even though some wires are connected to light up the traffic lights. In an a whole the model shows the modes of transportation which includes air, water, road and rail transport and Pollution which includes air, water, land and noise pollution


CONCLUSION

Innovative works are used to transact the same content in more creative way. When compared to the ordinary method this work helps to create interest in students and help the teacher to teach the topic transportation and pollution more easily. It will also help students to store all the information regarding the topic in their memory for a long time.

COGNITIVE MAP

 A cognitive map is a type of mental representation which serves as an individual to acquire, code, store, recall and decode information about the relative locations and attributes of phenomena in their everyday or metaphorical spatial environment. Cognitive mapping is a powerful visual mapping strategy organizing communicating and retaining knowledge. They help us lay out complex ideas, processes and recognize patterns and relationships.

CONSCIENTIZATION REPORT ON CHILD RIGHTS

 Conscientization or 'critical consciousness' is a popular education and social concept developed by Brazilian pedagogue and educational theorist Paulo Freire. Critical consciousness focuses on achieving an in-depth understanding of the world, allowing for the perception and exposure of social and political contradictions. It also includes taking action against the oppressive elements in one's life that are illuminated by that understanding. The term was popularized by Paulo Freire in his 1970 work Pedagogy of the oppressed.

As part of 2-year B. Ed course, a conscientization programme on CHILD RIGHTS was conducted in the school during our teaching practice. Child rights are specialized human rights that apply to all human being below the age of 18. Children are the future of our country. However, it is the fact that they are the most vulnerable people and are subjected to abuse and neglect. Universally, childhood is recognized as a period of sensitivity requiring special care, attention and protection. Every child has a right to lead a decent life. However, the status of children is in an unfair condition all over the world and thus it is important for children to know about their rights.

I decided to select this topic since I wanted to make the children aware about the child rights and its importance.

OBJECTIVES

Enable the students to be:

1.Aware about child right and its importance.
2.Aware about the role of UNCRC on child rights.
3.Aware about the practice of child rights.
4.Aware about the status of children in India.
5.Aware about various constitutional provisions, laws, policies and programmes related to child rights.

REPORT

The awareness programme on "Child Rights" was organized on 08/08/2022. I have selected high school students of GHSS, Chathanoor as participants.

After routine classroom practice and a friendly talk, I used power point presentation to present the topic. First of all, in order to introduce the topic, I had shown some pictures if child right violation, to sensitize the students with the topic.




Responses are elicited about the pictures by asking some questions and students shared their ideas on the pictures. This helped to activate the student's prior knowledge on the topic, and they could easily connect the pictures. Then the title "Child rights" was introduced in the power point slide, then explained about its need through ppt.





I started the session with the introduction, need and then explained the importance of UNCRC and its four classification of child rights. Then I gave the brief idea on the status of children in India and moved on to some important child activist. Next, I introduced various measure provided by India to protect children and their rights such as important policies, legislations, schemes etc.














REFLECTION
 
The awareness programme is a successful one as it gives the desirable result. The topic of the conscientization is appropriate for the audience since they could directly relate themselves with the content. 

The asked questions and interactions helped to check the understanding of the students about the concerned topic. It helps not only the teacher but also the students to evaluate themselves on how much that are aware about the 'Child Rights'. Power point presentation was the appropriate material for presenting such a topic. It generates interest and sustains throughout the end of the programme. This helped the teacher to carry out the class without any interruption or undisciplined activities.

CONCLUSION

It is important to understand that high school students are at an age of understanding their right. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child tells a familiar, and very convincing, story about children, childhood, child development, and human rights. Under the Convention, the child is perceived as a person in the making who should enjoy the maximum available resources in order to develop into a competent adult at the age of 18. 

On the whole through this conscientization class I was able to transact the information if child rights to the students at high school.

FIFTH WEEK @ SCHOOL ( Phase II )

Fifth week of school internship phase two was started. This week was not much busy. Due to heavy rain and plus one admission, there was only few working was there in this week.

DAY 1 (04/08/2022, Thursday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00am.  I was allotted two periods in which I took class on the topic "Selection". I used video presentation, general discussion, power point slides, group discussion and also presented graphic organizer while teaching. Students were very active during the whole class. I made them read the main points from during power point presentation. Also, I checked their notebooks. And also took class external sources of recruitment using concept attainment model

DAY 2 (05/08/2022, Friday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. Teacher allotted me two periods. On the first period as per the instruction given by the subject teacher, I conducted a small surprise test for 15 marks from the first chapter of business studies. There was no organized question paper. I have just given some random questions from the chapter. I was very happy to see that most of them well attended the test. On the next period I have given the balance notes.

 As this week was not much busy. I worked on lesson plans and other works better. And also, in this week I made more interactions with teachers and other trainees in the high school section.

FOURTH WEEK @ SCHOOL ( Phase II )

Fourth week of school internship phase two was started. In this week also I got much more substitution periods. 

DAY 1 (25/07/2022, Monday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. No period was allotted today due to the plus one improvement exam which was held in the school. So, the day was not much busy for me. I worked on my next lesson plans and prepared some notes for the students.

  

DAY 2 (26/07/2022, Tuesday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. The subject teacher allotted me the periods. I took the class on " Taylors scientific management". Buzz session, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. All the students were very actively listened in the class.
In the period at afternoon session, I took on "Techniques of scientific management". Students were little lazy at this period so in between the lecture I made them do some simple standing exercises so that they can feel fresh throughout the class.

 

DAY 3 (27/07/2022, Wednesday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. The subject teacher allotted me the periods. As I got two periods, I took the class on " Fayol's principles of management" as two parts. At the first session I had a visit by the teacher from my college. I used image presentation general discussion, power point slides, group discussion and graphic organizer for taking the class.

DAY 4 (28/07/2022, Thursday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. In the morning session I took a class on the difference between Fayol's and Taylors contributions on management. I used Advance organizer Model for transacting the topic. As in this period I completed the second chapter I asked for the reviews from the student's side. In the second period I have started the next chapter "Staffing". Today was busy day as I got one more period to complete the notes of the second chapter.

 

DAY 5 (29/07/2022, Friday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. Today took the class on " Staffing Process and Recruitment" in two periods. I used video presentation, general discussion, group discussion and power point slides for the teaching. The class was overall good. All the students’ attitudes towards reading were increased through using PowerPoint Presentation.

    Overall, this week went so busy, as I completed number of lessons plans and also given them the notes

THIRD WEEK @ SCHOOL ( Phase II )

Third week of school internship phase two was started. This week was also busy as more teachers were gone for plus one exam paper evaluation. The Lesson Plans could be covered effectively in this week. Effective utilization of Smart Classes could be achieved. I was able to make all the presentations such that my students could understand the concepts thoroughly.



DAY 1 (18/07/2022, Monday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. After signing the register, the subject teacher allotted me two period. Along with it the subject teacher checked my lesson plans and asked about my feedback about the class and students' behaviour. I have given positive feedback to the teacher, she also asked me to check notes books of every student each day. 

The first period in the morning session is used to teach the topic "Importance of coordination". Brainstorming, general discussion, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. The other period in the afternoon session was used to give them notes. As it was the last hour of school timing all were very tired and they were very lazy in writing, so I asked some of them to sing songs and then had some beautiful time with them and it made me to make more attachment with the students.

DAY 2 (20/07/2022, Wednesday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. Today there was an educational strike conducted in Kollam district, due to that all the students left the school by first period itself. So, it was completely a boring day without students. Today I spent more time in high school block with the other teacher trainees there. All the left the school by 3.00 pm.

DAY 3 (21/07/2022, Thursday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. The subject teacher allotted me a period. I took the class on " Principles of management". Brainstorming, debate, power point slides, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. All the students were very active in group discussion and in other activities provided. 
 
DAY 4 (22/07/2022, Friday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. The subject teacher allotted me two periods. As usual first period is used to take the class on "Significance of Principles of management. Brainstorming, debate, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. I felt little challenging today as I conducted first debate session. It was uneasy to manage the students at debate and group discussion time, but rest of the time they were quiet and listened to class.

The next period I just gave them balance notes and asked some questions related to what was learned in the previous classes. Some of them responded to all the questions very actively and some were not up to the expected level.

On the whole I felt better improvements in me as a teacher. Also, I was able to make some good relations and more attachments with the students.

SECOND WEEK @ SCHOOL ( Phase II )

Second week of school internship phase II was started. The second week went very busy. More classes and interactions with the students helped in developing better understanding between me as a teacher and my students. in this week the subject teacher asked me to give structured notes to the students according to the classes taken. So, every day I started preparing notes for them.


 

 

DAY 1 (12/07/2022, Tuesday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am as usual after signing the register the subject teacher allotted me the periods. After the lunch break a small program was conducted in Seminar Hall on World Population Day among the NSS students. Their teacher provided more information's about the world population day and asked the students to prepare notes on it.

Today I took the class on the topic "Nature of Management". Image presentation, general discussion, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer is used to teach the lesson. Today students were more active, and they asked doubts also. I was very happy that all the students did the follow up activity given in each day.

DAY 2 (13/07/2022, Wednesday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am and signed the register. Subject teacher allotted me the period which was is in the afternoon section. I was little bit nervous today because I had a visit by the option teacher from my B.Ed college. The topic "Level of management" was taken today. The class were quite normal and listened very carefully throughout the class. At the end of the randomly I called some students to front made them complete the graphic organizer presented in chart. 

After the class teacher visited given both positive and negative feedbacks. she said I should improve more in class management at the time when group discussion is given. 

DAY 3 (14/07/2022, Thursday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am. The subject teacher allotted two periods. I used one period in afternoon session completely in giving notes to the students. I was very surprised to see that everyone including the scribe students maintains a proper notebook for each subject. On the other period I took the class on 'Functions of management". Brainstorming, general discussion, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. 

At the lunch break I visited high school block there I got the chance to take part in providing noon meals to the children. This was a new experience for me.

 

DAY 4 (15/07/2022, Friday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am and signed the register. Then subject teacher allotted me two periods. In the first period I used to take class on the topic " Coordination". Brainstorming, general discussion, power point presentation, group discussion and graphic organizer was used while teaching. In the other period I checked their notebooks and given the balance notes. Some of them asked doubts and I was able to clear it.

On the whole I felt better improvements in me as a teacher and at the same time getting out the best out of my students was a target for me.

FIRST WEEK @ SCHOOL ( Phase II )

The School Internship Phase II was started on 05/07/2022. the school internship is an integral part of total B.Ed course. This programe aims at providing the opportunity for a direct learning experience for student-teachers on various roles of a teacher including teaching the subject.

DAY 1 (05/07/2022, Tuesday)

I reached the school by 9.00 am. since it was my first day at school, first I met Higher Secondary Principal Pramod Sir. He gave importance instructions regarding classes and timings of the school and directed to the staffroom, there I met subject teachers and collected time table. They allotted me the portions from business studies.

In the afternoon session a period was allotted for me. I just made an interaction with the students and was able to know more about the school functioning. Today I spent more time to know the school atmosphere and I hope it would help in future class planning.


DAY 2 (06/07/2022, Wednesday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am and visited principals' room for signing the register. Then the subject teacher allotted a room for us near the staffroom so that we can contact the teachers immediately when needed.  I got my first class for teaching.

First 15 minutes from I entered the class was challenging as it was my first class. I took the introduction part of the plus two business studies chapter 1 "Nature and Significance of Management". I started the class with a friendly talk and introduced the chapter through brainstorming and general discussion. I used power point slides and lecture method for explanation and also interacted with students while explanation. Then I conducted a group discussion related to the lesson and also presented a graphic organizer at the end of the class. Review questions and follow up activity was given.

I felt satisfied at the end of the class as I achieved the learning objectives of the lesson. It was the first time that I was dealing with such number of students, so classroom management was little bit uneasy for me. The day was not a busy one for me. I left the school by 4.15 pm.


DAY 3 (07/07/2022, Thursday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am and after signing the register subject teacher allotted me two periods as some of the teachers went for plus one exam paper evaluation. On the first period I have taken the class on the topic "Characteristics of Management". After the friendly talk I asked some questions related to the previous class so that they can recollect the previous knowledge. I had a good interaction with the students during the explanation of the lesson also presented power point slides for the development of the lesson.  

The second period was little bit challenging because it was in the afternoon session and students was restless during the last hours but still I teached the lesson "Objectives of Management". I made them to do some simple standing exercises so that they can feel fresh. I used brain storming, general discussion, power point presentation, group discussion, and presented graphic organizer to complete the topic.

The day was not a busy one the rest of time I visited high school block and made some interactions with the teachers, students and some teacher trainees. I left the school by 4.15 pm.

DAY 4 (08/07/2022, Friday)

Today I reached the school by 9.00 am and after signing the register I met the business studies teacher, and she allotted me the period.  The period was in the morning session. The class was taken on the topic 'Importance of Management". I used brainstorming, power point slides, general discussion, group discussion and presented graphic organizer related to the topic. Students were very active during activity time. Today as I completed my first week of school internship, I asked the students for feedback, and I felt happy by hearing some positive feedback from their side. They are all interested in group activities, so they asked for more activities in upcoming classes. Also, I got some negative feedbacks which will help myself to improve in future classes.

It was all a new school for me, and I was very excited.  The school environment was so good. The first week of teaching practice was really an unforgettable one. It was a pleasant experience to catch up with my students and receive their love and affection.
